Perfect Spiral Curls

Updated: Jan 16, 2021

I love doing these curls on my daughter, but they are so elegant on women too. In fact, I use a similar process to create my own beach-y curls!

If you're looking for a quick and easy style that can be worn with casual looks and dressed up for events and special occasions, you'll love this one! These spiral curls are perfect for elevating your jeans and tee, look fabulous for parties, and are perfect for little girls.

What You Need:

  • Brush: I prefer a natural boar bristle brush, but a paddle brush works well also.

  • Curling iron with 1" barrel: Depending on how big you want your curls, select your barrel size. I chose my 1" barrel because I wanted them loose, think a more romantic, even 'beach-y' wave feel. I used hot tools pro.

  • Dry shampoo: I have a couple favorites: Moroccan Oil and Redken. I grabbed my Redken Invisible Dry Shampoo for that was handy for this style.

  • Heat protectan

  • Hairspray

How To:

Step 1- Begin by sectioning the hair based on thickness. Be sure to spray hair with a heat protectant.

Step 2- For these loose waves, curl the hair away from the face. I like to take strand sizes roughly the width of your curling iron barrel, but definitely not too small or the curls end up tighter. Start with the iron about halfway down the hair strand and curl up toward the scalp. Slide the iron down leaving about 1-1 1/2 inches of the ends out of the iron {this is your preference.}

Step 3- To unwrap the curl, you want to twist the iron like you see here in the video. Continue to curl away from the face. I begin on one side of the head working around the head to the halfway point, or middle of the back of the head. Once you've reached the middle back, switch to the opposite side.

Step 4- Take the next subsection and spray with heat protectant before curling. Continue sectioning hair depending on thickness, making it easy to curl... not missing any strands.

Step 5- Loosen the look combing with your fingers. You can brush out with a natural bristle or paddle brush also for an even looser beach-y wave look.

Step 6- Finish the look and hold the curls in place with hairspray.
